After
June 16 1998 all boats sold in the European Market must comply with
the European Safety Directive and be CE marked. This also applies
to all boats, even secondhand ones, that are built outside the EEC
and are subsequently sold in the European Market after June 16 1998.

The CE certification covers all aspects of the construction of the
hull and imposes certain safety standards. The hull, deck and bulkheads
have to comply with rigorous standards and the engine installation,
electronic installation, steering system, safety equipment, ports
and hatches, fuel hoses and tanks and stability of the yacht are all
examined. The CE certificate for Hylas yachts is for the highest category
- Category A - which is for unlimited ocean voyages.
Hylas Yachts Ltd, the European agents, have been issued with the CE
certificate for the Hylas 46 and 54. The Hylas 49 also complies.
